Q1: What is a Coronavirus?
Ans: Coronaviruses are a large family of viruses which may cause illness in animals or humans. In humans, several coronaviruses are known to cause respiratory infections ranging from the common cold to more severe diseases such as Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS). The most recently discovered coronavirus called as 2019 Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) causes coronavirus disease COVID-19.
Q2: What are the symptoms of COVID-19?
Ans: The most common symptoms of COVID-19 are fever, tiredness, and dry cough. Some patients may have aches and pains, nasal congestion, runny nose, sore throat or diarrhea. These symptoms are usually mild and begin gradually. Some people become infected but don't develop any symptoms and don't feel unwell. Most people (about 80%) recover from the disease without needing special treatment.
Q3: Who should get tested?
Ans: As per guidelines, if you develop the acute onset of fever and symptoms of respiratory illness, such as cough or shortness of breath you should visit your nearest health facility and the doctor will decide if you need to be tested for COVID-19, depending upon your history of travel to affected countries or contact with any suspects.
Q4: What are the documents needed for (COVID -19)Testing?
Ans: Patient Information Form duly filled, along with the referring doctor's prescription, also Govt. photo-id (Aadhaar card/ VoterId/ Passport) to support the current address and contact number of the suspect patient to be provided at the time of sample collection. These are mandatory requirements defined by Govt. of India without which testing of COVID 19 is not allowed.

Q6: What kind of Sample is needed for Testing ?
Ans: Nasopharyngeal and Oropharyngeal swab will be collected by taking due precautions

Ans: RT PCR, as recommended by ICMR.
Q8: What's the sample collection and transportation process ?
Ans: The sample will be collected in a viral transport medium (VTM) to maintain the stability of the sample & get transported in a cold chain. Our specially trained phlebotomists collect the samples by following all biosafety precautions and using personal protective equipment.
